Lionel Messi will leave French club Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Argentine has been suspended by Paris Saint-Germain for the next two weeks after the club said he embarked on an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia.

The former Barcelona player’s two-year contract at the French club will expire at the end of the season.

The Argentine captain has an option to extend his stay with the club for one more year but that will not be activated anymore.

It is comprehended Messi’s father communicated to Paris Saint-Germain one month ago about Messi’s reluctance to renew his contract with the club.

Messi has scored 19 goals and made 19 assists in all competitions this season, and can win a successive league title with Paris Saint-Germain who are five points clear of Marseille at the top of the table.

Messi has been fined by the club and will miss the club’s next two games starting with a trip to Troyes in the league this weekend.

Financial difficulties are the main issue avoiding a return to his boyhood club Barcelona.

He also has an offer of about 400m euros to play in Saudi Arabia and a chance to play for David Beckham’s Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer in America.
