“He’s a leader of ours,” Terzic says of Jude Bellingham
Speaking ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League game against Chelsea, Edin Terzic discussed Jude Bellingham, who has become a leader at the Bundesliga club.
“Everyone knows his potential,” said Terzic. “He also had the option to opt for the Premier League back when he came to us, but he chose Dortmund.
“He helps us and we help him. We’re happy to have him with us, he’s a leader of ours. We need a good performance from him tomorrow.”
Upon the appointment of Terzic, Bellingham (19) was appointed as Borussia Dortmund’s third captain behind Marco Reus and Mats Hummels. Speaking after the first-leg, which Bellingham captained in absence of the aforementioned duo, the Englishman described captainining Borussia Dortmund as the greatest honour of his career.
Since joining Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City for €25m in July 2020, Bellingham has played 121 games across all competitions for Die Schwarzgelben, scoring 20 and creating 24.
His performances in 2023 have helped BVB to win their 10 games this year with the club enjoying their best ever start to a calendar year.
After Karim Adeyemi’s superb solo goal in the reverse fixture, Borussia Dortmund hold a 1-0 lead over Chelsea with the club looking to secure a place in the Champions League quarter-final.
