Arsenal and France legend Thierry Henry revealed that Super Eagles legend Taribo West is the hardest opponent he’s faced in his career.

Henry is considered one of the greatest strikers in history and one of the finest players in the history of the English Premier League. He inspired Arsenal to their famous Invincible triumph in 2003/2004 and won a record four Premier League Golden Boots.

“For direct opponent, I’ll go back in the days – Taribo West,” Henry said in a recent show posted on CBSS Sports Golazo, when asked to mention the player he least liked playing against.

The 1998 World Cup winner continued: “Because at AJ Auxerre, they were man-marking, he[Taribo West] was following you everywhere, even in the dressing room.”

Taribo West is widely known as one of Nigeria’s greatest defenders.

During Henry’s spell at AS Monaco from 1994, he squared off against West who was representing AJ Auxerre at the time.

When Henry moved to Juventus in 1999, he came up against the Nigerian defensive powerhouse again, who was plying his trade at Inter Milan having joined the Italians in June 1997.

Taribo West – an Olympic Gold winner with Nigeria – played at Auxerre from 1993 to 1997. He then moved to Inter in ’97 and played there until 1999 when he made a switch to rival club, AC Milan. He also played in top-level leagues in England and Germany.
