The second round of match day four of the Champions League produced lesser goals (19) than round one (26) but more red cards.
Bayern Munich and Manchester City are through to the next round after beating Salzburg and Olympiacos 3-1 and 1-0 respectively. Inter Milan, Liverpool and Marseille all lose at home by two goals to Real Madrid, Atlanta and Porto respectively. It leaves Inter Milan on the brink of elimination while the situation in group D remains more open.
Porto and Nigerian left back Zaidu Sanusi got his first Champions League goal. Ajax’s Ryan Gravenberch also got his first goal. Eden Hazard also scored his first Champions League goal since November 2017.
There were five red cards for Erik Sviatchenko – FC Midtjylland, Marko Grujic – Porto, Leonardo Balerdi – Marseille, Marc Roca – Bayern Munich and Arturo Vidal – Inter Milan.
Atletico Madrid and Lokomotiv Moscow ended in a stalemate while Borussia Monchengladbach hammered Shakhtar Donetsk 4-0. Ajax beat FC Midtjylland 3-1 to complete the day.
