Luka Doncic help propels Dallas Mavericks to victory but goes off injured
Luka Doncic scored 31 points before being sidelined by an injury midway through the third quarter and the host Dallas Mavericks held on to hand the New Orleans Pelicans their 10th consecutive loss, 111-106 on Friday morning.
Doncic scored 21 points as the Mavericks took a 40-22 lead after one quarter. In the third, when he landed awkwardly after his shot was blocked by Brandon Ingram. After trying to play a bit longer, he went to the locker room with what the team called a right heel contusion.
Elsewhere, Giannis Antetokounmpo reached the 50-point mark for the third time since the start of January, leading Milwaukee Bucks to a 106-105 comeback win over visiting Los Angeles Clippers. Norman Powell led the way for LA Clippers, scoring 26 points off the bench.
Anthony Davis finished with 31 points as Los Angeles Lakers beat Indiana Pacers 112-111. Nikola Jokic recorded his league-leading 17th triple-double as he finished with 22 points, 14 rebound and 16 assists for Denver Nuggets as they handed Golden State Warriors a 134-117 loss.
In other results – Cleveland Cavaliers defeated Memphis Grizzlies 128-113 behind Darius Garland 32 points and 11 assists showing, while Ayo Dosunmu scored 22 points to boast Chicago Bulls past Charlotte Hornets 114-98. Lastly, New York Knicks edged a close game against Miami Heats 106-104 with RJ Barrett scoring 30 points for the Knicks.
