Arsenal celebrated like they won the league, Wolves’ Neves says
Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves says Arsenal celebrated their win over them like they had “won the league”.
The Gunners held on to beat the West Midlands side 1-0 after being reduced to 10 men when Gabriel Martinelli was sent off after 69 minutes.
The victory was Arsenal’s first in 2022 and moved them up to fifth in the Premier League.
“We saw the way they celebrated the win and that shows the level we are,” Portugal international Neves told BBC Sport.
“I didn’t see Arsenal celebrating like this in the past 10 years – it was like they won the league.”
Arsenal have won nine of their past 14 Premier League matches (D1 L4), keeping a clean sheet in seven of those victories.
Meanwhile, it was Wolves’ sixth 1-0 league defeat of the season, the joint most of any side along with Watford.
“We need to improve a lot on scoring goals because we are creating chances but we’re not good enough in that part of the game,” Neves added.
