Super Eagles boss Austin Eguavoen says Nigeria will go all out for the win against Guinea-Bissau in their final group stage fixture of the Africa Cup of Nations despite having qualified for the knockout stages.

The Super Eagles defeated Egypt 1-0 and saw off Sudan 3-1 to advance to the knockout rounds. Now top of the group, they face third-placed Guinea-Bissau, who need a win to have any chance of making progress.

However, Eguavoen has insisted that his side, who are seeking a fourth Afcon title, will go into the encounter, with the “same enthusiasm” they have shown so far.

“We will not take our foot off the pedal,” the Nigerian coach told reporters in a press conference. “We will respect our opponents, we will have same enthusiasm.

“It is not expected that the game will be smooth for 90 minutes. Our major concern is conversion. We have worked on that and we hope to see improvements.

“Some countries tend to raise their game when they face Nigeria. We will be ready on Wednesday.”

Super Eagles’ vice-captain William Troost-Ekong echoed same plan, saying “we will be approaching the game as the first two.”

“The team will work hard, this is an opportunity to test ourselves and play a good game,” the defender added.

Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau will face off at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua, Cameroon from 8:00pm local time.
