Portuguese club FC Porto will let go of Congolese defender Chancel Mbemba due to concerns over his age, Daily Mail reports.
The centre-back was previously believed to be 27 years old, but a report from Portuguese outlet Corriero de Manha says he told his close friends he was born in 1990, which makes him 31.
A 2013 investigation was opened after four birth years were linked to the Congolese.
The ex-Newcastle player took bone tests to prove he was born in 1994.
Porto are now unwilling to extend the player’s contract beyond the summer.
