Nigeria international and Napoli star Victor Osimhen has said the Super Eagles are “in safe hands” with goalkeeper Maduka Okoye.

Osimhen, 23, tweeted in response to international journalist Oma Akatugba, who tipped Okoye to stop Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah in Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations clash with Egypt on Tuesday.

“Maduka to stop Salah,” Akatugba tweeted.

Osimhen corroborated, saying, “in safe hands.”

Maduka made his debut for Nigeria in 2019 and has been fantastic between the sticks for the Super Eagles. The 22-year-old is signed to English Premier League club, Watford but is currently on loan at Sparta Rotterdam in the Dutch top division.

Osimhen, meanwhile, isn’t available for Nigeria’s Afcon campaign, having dropped out of the squad due to Covid-19.

Nigeria will begin their quest for a fourth AFCON title against Egypt on Tuesday at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua, Cameroon and will look to keep the Pharaohs and their star player Salah quiet.
