Nigeria began their quest for a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title with a 1-0 victory over Egypt at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua, Cameroon.
The Super Eagles took the lead in the 30th minute after Kelechi Iheanacho rifled a left-footed shot into the top right corner. The goal ensured maximum points for Nigeria, who now top the group and face Sudan next.

Egypt, seven-time Afcon winners, had Liverpool star forward Mohamed Salah in their ranks but were unable to find a way past the Super Eagles’ rearguard.
