Liverpool, Chelsea & City secure maximum points to maintain pressure at the top
Liverpool prevailed over Everton 4-1 in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, while Chelsea edged Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road.
Elsewhere at Villa Park, Manchester City claimed a 2-1 success against Aston Villa.
All three teams leading the Premier League standings secured maximum points on the night, but it’s Chelsea who remain top, thanks to goals from Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech.
The Blues are top with 33 points after 14 rounds of matches – a point above second-placed City.
At Goodison Park, Mohamed Salah’s brace after a Jordan Henderson strike, and Diogo Jota’s late finish helped Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool to their ninth Premier League win this season. They are in third place – a point adrift of City and two below leaders Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Everton continue to endure miserable outings. The 4-1 defeat by Liverpool was their sixth loss in their last eight league games. They are on an eight-game winless run and are just five points above the relegation zone.
