Osimhen ruled out for three months, to miss AFCON
Nigeria international and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has been ruled out for three months after suffering multiple facial fractures.
The 22-year-old was taken off in the second half of Napoli’s 3-2 defeat by Inter Milan in the Serie A on Sunday after suffering an injury following a clash of heads with Inter’s Milan Skriniar.
Following a surgery on his cheekbone and eye socket on Tuesday, the club said that the Nigerian is expected to be out for 90 days. As a result, he will miss the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations, which begins January 9 in Cameroon.

Osimhen’s absence will be a big blow for Nigeria and also Napoli, who are currently top of the Italian Serie A.
He is Napoli’s leading goalscorer this season, with nine goals in 14 appearances.
Osimhen netted four times in six games to help Nigeria reach Africa’s World Cup play-offs. He also finished as joint-top scorer in qualifying for the delayed Nations Cup, with five goals.
