Carrick urges United players to put on good show against Villarreal
Ahead of Manchester United’s Champions League meeting with Villarreal, Michael Carrick, who’s currently in charge of the Red Devils, has urged United’s players to put on a good performance after a turbulent few days at Old Trafford, saying the encounter is a “big match for both clubs.”
“What matters now is getting the right results, how we go about our business,” Carrick said.
“There’s a responsibility that comes with playing for this club that doesn’t come with playing for many others.
“Villarreal are a very good team. Very well organised and very well coached. They have a good mix, a good balance and we respect that.
“It’s a big game for both teams but it’s one we can really look forward to.”
United play Villarreal at the Estadio de la Ceramica Tuesday evening. The Red Devils defeated the Spanish side 2-1 in their last meeting in September, thanks to that injury-time winner from Cristiano Ronaldo.
Both Villarreal and United are tied on points (7) in Group F, but the Yellow Submarines are top thanks to their superior goal difference.
