Osimhen to undergo surgery after head injury

Victor Osimhen will undergo surgery after sustaining a head injury during Napoli’s 3-2 defeat at Inter Milan in the Serie A on Sunday.

The Nigerian forward was taken off in the 55th minute and transported to hospital in Milan.

Test revealed that the 22-year-old suffered multiple displaced fractures of the orbit and left cheekbone.

Osimhen will undergo an operation on Monday and is likely to be out for up to four weeks.

However, he is expected to be back before the Super Eagles begin preparations for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations, which begins January 9 in Cameroon.

The forward is Napoli’s leading goalscorer in the Italian Serie A this season, with 5 goals in 11 appearances.
