Mendy to remain in prison until December 22
Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy will be in jail until at least December 22 – the date he appears before the Chester Crown Court.
The Frenchman, who’s facing six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, will appear before the Crown Court to say whether he believes he is innocent or guilty, L’Equipe explained.
Mendy, 27, has been at the Altocourse Prison in Liverpool since August.
His trial is set to begin January 24 in Chester and could last for two weeks.
Mendy’s charges relate to four complainants over the age of 16 and are alleged to have taken place between October 2020 and August 2021.
The France international signed for Man City from Monaco in 2017 for a reported £52m. He was suspended by the club after being charged by the police, pending an investigation.
