Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba desires to extend his stay at Old Trafford but has demanded that he be made the highest-paid player at the club, according to L’Equipe.

The Frenchman is looking to overtake Cristiano Ronaldo to become the Premier League’s highest- paid player.

Pogba, whose current contract with United expires at the end of the season, is understood to be on a contract worth £290,000 a week, while Ronaldo is on £480,000 a week.

United have yet to reach an agreement over a new deal with the World Cup winner, who will be free to negotiate with teams outside of the Premier League from January.

Pogba is currently sidelined for up to 10 weeks due to a thigh injury and is set to miss some crucial United games, including Premier League meetings with Chelsea and Arsenal.
