Napoli boss Spalletti says Osimhen is similar to Weah

Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti has compared Victor Osimhen’s quality to former AC Milan star George Weah.

Spalletti says the Nigerian star has similarities with Weah who remains the only African to have won the Ballon d’Or – in 1995.

“He is similar to Weah, probably not as strong technically, but with the same quality. He also reminds me of Van Basten. Osimhen is young and he can reach those levels,” Spalletti was quoted by Football Italia.

Osimhen, who has scored nine goals in 12 matches across all competitions this season, missed his side’s last two games with injury, but is set to return to the starting line-up on Sunday when Napoli host Verona in the Serie A.

“Victor [Osimhen], Fabian, and Insigne did the entire training as a group. Kostas Manolas in the field. Malcuit did custom in the gym,” read a statement from the club.

The Blues, who are yet to lose a league game this season, are top of the Serie A standings with 31 points after 11 rounds of fixtures.
