I want to be the best goalscorer in the Bundesliga – Erling Haaland
Norwegian striker Erling Haaland joined Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January 2020 and hit the ground running immediately, scoring a hattrick against Augsburg as a substitute on his debut.
Haaland has a goal ratio of 1 goal per game at Dortmund, having netted 49 goals in 49 games in all competitions, 20 of which came in 14 Champions League games but he isn’t resting on his laurels and has set a target of wanting to be the best goalscorer in the German league.
“I want to be the best goalscorer in the Bundesliga,” he told France Football magazine, quoted by Bundesliga. “But I’m not someone who thinks about records all the time. It’s not my thing. I think of my team and to help it as best I can. Nothing else.”
“Since I was a child, I knew that I would be capable of producing such performances. I knew that I could make the difference. And I know that I can do even better in the future too.
“I try to work as hard as possible to become the best footballer that I can be. So I work hard – as hard as I can. As hard as my body is capable of taking.”
Haaland has scored 21 Bundesliga goals this season to help Dortmund to fifth place, four points behind fourth placed Eintracht Frankfurt. He is a subject of transfer interest from clubs including Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
