The media has been awash with rumours regarding the imminent departure of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain since Lionel Messi arrived in the French capital.

Mbappe had reportedly told the Parisian club that he does not want to renew his contract as he wants to leave for Real Madrid. And it attracted a negative response which saw Mbappe jeered by a section of the supporters inside the Parc De Princes during PSG’s league fixture against Strassbourg that ended 4-2.

In his response to a question: PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino says: the player he sees is well concentrated and motivated to start the new season.

Pochettino had to face the press ahead of his team’s third league game of the new season against Brest, and after an extensive line of questioning about Messi: he touched on Mbappe’s future at the club.

“I think Kylian is well, motivated, working hard to have a good season. Kylian is our player, and I don’t see him not being here this season”.

Regarding information suggesting Mbappe had told the dressing room he would stay, Pochettino said he isn’t in the group: “No, I’m not in this group of players, and our chats are all about football. It’s clear that his contract runs for another year if he doesn’t extend it, so he’s a PSG player, and we’re happy with him, and the reverse is the case for him as well.”

Mbappe’s contract expires at the end of the current season, and reports say he doesn’t plan to force a move because he knows he can leave on a free next year. Besides, he wants to enjoy the opportunity of playing alongside the likes of Messi and Neymar for another season.
