Egyptian FA sack head coach Hossam El Badry after draw with Gabon
The Egyptian Football Association has sacked head coach Hossam El Badry. The dismissal came less than 24 hours after the North African nation drew 1–1 with Gabon in their World Cup qualifying game on Sunday.
El Badry had won six and drawn four of his ten games in charge of the Pharaohs. They are also top of their World Cup qualifying group with four points.
“The EFA would like to thank Hossam El-Badry and his technical staff for the work they have done for the national team,” the Egyptian FA said in a statement.
“We wish them good luck and fortune in their future career. And the EFA will decide the new technical staff for the national team during the next 48 hours.”
El Badry was named as Egypt’s head coach after his predecessor, Javier Aguirre, was sacked following poor performances on home soil when they hosted the African Cup of Nations in 2019.
