Following a 0-0 draw with Switzerland on Sunday, Italy set a new record for an undefeated run for an international side. They have now gone 36 matches without defeat.
Their new milestone surpasses that of the Brazil side from 1993-96 and the Spain side of 2007-09 in terms of undefeated matches.
Despite their undefeated run, Italy have drawn four of their last five matches over 90 minutes.
However, they remain in a strong position in World Cup Qualifying Group C, with 11 points from five matches.
