Raphael Varane, in his first in-house interview as a Manchester United player, revealed that he is delighted to link up with his countryman, Paul Pogba at Old Trafford and is ready to work hard to win trophies at the club.

Varane, who was signed from Real Madrid for £40 million, enjoyed a trophy-laden ten-year spell at Madrid, where he notably won four Champions League titles. Varane also won the World Cup with France in 2018, alongside Paul Pogba, and is now targeting more title success at club level with his compatriot.

“I’m very happy. I’ve known him for a very long time, we started together with the French national team and he’s a great player,” the 28-year-old defender said of his relationship with Pogba. “I think he’s ambitious and me too, so we are ready to work hard and to do all we can to win trophies.”

United last won the English Premier League eight years ago and are currently experiencing a four-year trophy drought.

They, however, started their 2021/2022 Premier League season with a bang, as they hammered Leeds United 5–1. It will be interesting to see how far Raphael Varane and co. can go this season.
