“It felt like it would never end” – Tuchel praises Chelsea’s performance
Chelsea produced a determined display in the second half, after going a man down, to hold off Liverpool and leave Anfield with a great point in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Blues took the lead after 22 minutes with a superb header from Kai Havertz, but a red card to Reece James brought them down to 10 men and a penalty finish from Mohamed Salah restored parity just before half time.
In the second half, Liverpool threw virtually everything at Thomas Tuchel’s men but they soaked the pressure and were able to hold on for a point.
Soeaking of his team’s performance after the match, Tuchel said: “Fantastic. It was a very strong Liverpool side, we had to be very good and score the first goal. Suddenly the world was upside down, I can’t praise the team’s resilience enough.
A hard-fought battle and an important point on the road. 👏 #LIVCHE pic.twitter.com/Nt7kuJkUms
