Nice president accuses Guendouzi of faking injuries following ugly Marseille clash
The president of Nice has accused Metteo Guendouzi of lying about his injuries after an ugly brawl which saw the Ligue 1 match between Nice and Marseille abandoned last weekend.
During the match, Marseille’s Dmitiri Payet hurled a bottle which had been thrown at him back into the crowd, and that sparked an embarrassing fight between players, fans, coaches and officials.
Afterwards, Guendouzi showed bruises and scratches on social media which he claims were sustained during the ugly scenes. However, Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere has accused him of being a liar.
“Apart from the photo that is everywhere, there has been no violence against OM players,” Rivere told L’Equip. “By the way, Guendouzi, with pictures to prove it, has no marks on his neck when he is on the pitch.”
Rivere had earlier blamed Marseille for instigating the ugly incident, even though it was Nice supporters who had been throwing objects at Marseille players throughout the match.
