Karim Benzema has signed a new two-year contract at Real Madrid and will continue to lead the attacking line for Los Blancos until 2023.
Reports say the 33-year-old will now have a €1 billion release clause, to ensure he spends the remaining years of his top-level playing career at the Bernabeu.
The Frenchman moved to Madrid from Lyon in 2009 and has achieved tremendous success there, winning 19 major trophies, including four Champions Leagues and three La Liga crowns.
Benzema is number five in the club’s list of all-time top scorers with 281 goals, including 194 in La Liga and 59 in the Champions League.
