Toni Kroos insists Messi’s move to PSG will benefit Real Madrid in two folds

Real Madrid star, Toni Kroos has said Lionel Messi’s move to Paris Saint-Germain’s could be of double benefit to Real Madrid. Firstly, their La Liga rivals Barcelona will now have a weakened team and Kylian Mbappe could leave PSG for the Spanish capital.

The German believes Messi’s move could create a path for Mbappe to join Madrid- a club the Frenchman supported as a youngster.

“We’ll see how it all works out (Messi to PSG). Maybe the move is good for us because our biggest competitor has lost their best player,” the German said while talking to his brother on their joint podcast Einfach mal luppen.

“And maybe even more good things will come out of it as a result. Maybe [a player] from Paris joins us… If that (Mbappe joining Madrid) should actually happen – I don’t know – this whole Messi deal would certainly not be a disadvantage for us.”

Mbappe has yet to commit to an extension on his contract that expires 10 months from now, and Real Madrid, who have long been courting the idea of bringing the Frenchman to the Bernabeu, have ramped up their efforts in that regard.
