Galatasaray defender, Marcao faces up to 10-game ban for headbutting his teammate

Galatasaray defender Marcao faces a ten-game ban after headbutting and punching his teammate in their 2–0 win against Giresunspor.

Marcao headbutted his teammate Kerem Akturkoglu and then began throwing punches at him in an embarrassing brawl on the pitch.

The incident occurred in the 61st minute of the game before both players were separated by other members of the Galatasaray squad.

Marcao was sent off following a VAR review but Akturkoglu evaded punishment for his role in the event.

The Turkish FA are believed to have judged the incident an ‘assault’ – which will see the player banned for between five and ten games.
