English Championship club Middlesbrough are ready to entertain the idea of selling Nigerian striker Chuba Akpom ok the condition that the right offer arrives for him.

Akpom has only been at the club a year but endured a difficult first season on Teesside, and with Boro looking to strengthen up-front in the coming weeks, manager Neil Warnock has hinted that they won’t stand in the former Arsenal man’s way if a suitable offer is tabled.

However,Middlesbrough are not considering letting another Nigerian Uche Ikpeazu leave,as the club consider him their main striker, given his rich form last season.

Boro want to get a striker through the door. Until they manage to land a frontman, Warnock won’t sanction the sale of Akpom which, as things stand, would leave him with Uche Ikpeazu as the club’s only recognised senior striker.

Ikpeazu will start the season as Boro’s main man up-top, the 26-year-old impressing since his summer arrival from Wycombe.

As for Akpom, it just hasn’t worked out since he joined from PAOK in September, and Besiktas have been strongly linked over the course of the summer.

Quizzed on Akpom’s future, Warnock said: “At the moment we’ve only got him and Uche.

Ikpeazu was born to aNigerian father and Ugandan mother and represents the Ugandan national team.

25-year old Chuba Akpom was born in England and has represented England at youth levels but is still eligible to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
