Tottenham Turn To Simy Nwankwo To Strengthen Attack
Reports coming from England have it that Tottenham Hotspurs are gunning for Nigerian striker Simeon Nwankwo.
According to the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are trying to strengthen up top and Nigerian international Simeon Nwankwo who plays for Crotone, Italy is one of the two names they are targeting. The signing will be looked at as a support to the squad rather than replace Harry Kane.
The report suggests that Nwankwo would be a cheaper option after his club got relegated from Serie A. Fiorentina’s Vlahovic is also mentioned as a target for the Lilywhites.
Simeon Nwankwo or Simy is a product of Portimonense’s academy. Growing through the ranks, he made his first-team debut in 2011. In his 68 first-team appearances for the Portuguese club, he scored 19 goals.
Crotone signed Simy in 2016. The player established himself in Italy after scoring 20 goals and 3 assists in the 19/20 Serie B campaign. He continued his top-form following season. The striker returned with a similar figure, this time in the top division of Italy. However, Crotone were relegated from the league.
He was included in his Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2018.
