I Play To Put Pressure On The Manager – Marcus Alonso

Chelsea wingback Marcus Alonso has opened up on a difficult season in Blue that has seen him ostracised from the team since September and given a new lease of life under Thomas Tuchel.
The last few weeks have also seen Ben Chilwell preferred ahead of him. He got a rare nod against Manchester City and got a late winner for the Blues.
“I’m very happy, especially because it’s been a tough season,” he said after the game, quoted by Goal.
“I do my best every time I play to put pressure on the manager and try to play more. That’s what I want and I think every time I play I’ve done well so that’s what I need to keep doing.
“With the goal, it was very emotional and I’m very happy for that.”
Alonso has excelled for Chelsea offensively and as a set piece taker but his defensive facilities has limited his playing time in his career at Stamford Bridge.
