Xabi Alonso Names Manuel Neuer The Best He Ever Played With
Footballing legend Xabi Alonso has named Bayern Munch and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer as the best he ever played with in his illustrious football career.
Alonso played with some of the best stars of his generation at Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as well as the Spain national team but has singled out the German shot stopper as the best.
“Manuel Neuer,” the 39-year-old told The Greatest Game with Jamie Carragher podcast. When asked to select his ultimate five-aside team. “For me, he’s the best I’ve ever seen, and the best I’ve ever played with.”
“Manu’s not only the world’s best keeper by a distance, he’s also a sensational outfield player. He’s never stopped being big Manu, even when he had his injuries,” Alonso told SportBild in a separate inteveiw, cited by Bundesliga.
Alonso, who is currently managing the team B of his bouhood club Real Sociedad won two UEFA Champions League with Liverpool and Real Madrid and also three Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich amid other major honurs. He also won 2010 FIFA World Cup and 2008 and 2012 UEFA Euro with Spain.
He played with some of the bests including five time world player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo, Spanish superstars Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandes and also Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard but has singled out Neuer as the best.
