Disappointing Arsenal Deny All English Final, Manchester United To Face Villarreal In Gdañsk

Villarreal reached their first ever major final, beating Arsenal 2-1 on aggregate in the Europa League semi-final on Thursday night, denying an all English affair in the final.

A 0-0 draw at the Emirates on Thursday was enough to take the Yellow Submarine into the 2020/21 Europa League final, after a 2-1 win at home last week.

Former Arsenal head coach Emery keeps his fine Europa League form intact and takes Villarreal to the final in his first season at the LaLiga club.

Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze was stretched off in the first half in what looks like an ACL injury.

Manchester United lost 3-2 to Roma but progressed 8-5 on aggregate in a match that was more like formally after a dominant 6-2 win in the first leg. Edinson Cavani continued his goalscoring form against Roma with two goals, seven in his last six games against the Italians.

The final will be played at the Stadion Miejski in Gdańsk, Poland on May 26. Villarreal will be United’s third Spanish opposition in the Europa League this season having beaten Granda and Real Sociedad.
