We Have A Small Advantage But We Have To Win, Says Guardiola
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says his team go into their Champions League semifinal second leg tie against PSG with a small advantage but they must win the game.
City beat PSG in Paris 2-1 and will host the Parisians at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester later today where keeping a clean sheet regardless of the result will send them to their first ever Champions League final.
“It is a privilege to be here,” Guardiola said at the pre-match oress conference. “For most of us in this club it is the first time and we are going to do a good game.
“What we have to do is win the game and after we will see what happens.”
A two time winner of the competition with Barcelona, Guardiola also revealed his message to his players, once again admitting advantage but they must player to win.
“We arrive in a good moment and I said to the guys, ‘Don’t think too much to win the game’. It’s like we have done many times this season.
“It is the same message of the last six or seven months. We approach this game like another game. We start with a small advantage but we have to play to win the game. This is all we are going to do.”
City’s quadruple hopes crashed after their FA Cup semifinal loss to Chelsea but they beat Tottenham in the Carabao Cup final to win it four straight seasons. They need one win from their remaining four games in the league to be crowned champions for the third time in five years.
