Paris-born Mahrez Strikes Down PSG, Sends Manchester City To First Ever Champions League Final
Riyad Mahrez’s strikes in both halves were enough to help Pep Guardiola’s men eliminate Paris St. Germain and send Manchester City to their first ever Champions League final.
Mahrez who was born in the French capital and scored from a freekick in the first leg scored again in the second leg, the first pouncing on a loose ball after Keylor Navas saved Kevin De Bruyne’s first time effort.
Mahrez got his second of the night, his third over the two legs against PSG, finishing off a brilliant counter attack started by Phil Foden
The impossible task became even more difficult to keep respectable after Angel Di Maria was given his marching orders for an angry and unprofessional reaction kick on City captain Fernandinho.
It was almost a third for Manchester City after youngster Phil Foden who was brilliant all night hit the post after a brilliant piece of skill.
PSG were a victim of their own shambolic defensive display and toothless attack as City progressed 4-1 on aggregate to their first ever Champions League final, Pep Guardiola’s third after winning the 2009 and 2011 Champions Leagues at Barcelona.
Manchester City will play the winner of tomorrow’s tie between Chelsea and Real Madrid in the final on May 29 at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.
