UEL Roundup: Arsenal Riot in Prague, Man Utd, Villarreal Win To Proceed, Ajax Out
Arsenal put behind the disappointment of their disappointing first leg draw against Slavia Prague in the first leg at the Emirates by running riot against the Czech club and running out 4-0 winners.
Three goals in six first half minutes from Pepe, Lacazette and Saka did the damage to Slavia, before Lacazette added his second in the second half sent Arsenal through 5-1 on aggregate.
Villarreal beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 to proceed to the semifinal on an aggregate score of 3-1. Paco Alcacerand Gerard Moreno got on the score sheet for Unai Emery’s men to set up a semifinal tie against Emery’s former club Arsenal. Mislav Orsic pulled one back for Dinamo.
Edinson Cavani’s first half strike put Man Utd ahead against Granada in an encounter that had little to play for. Jesus Vallejo’s 90 minute own goal added gloss to the scoreline for United to bring it to an aggregate score of 4-0
Ajax and Roma played a 1-1 draw and the result means Roma proceed with a 3-2 aggregate score. Brian Brobbey came off the bench to put Ajax ahead but Edin Dzeko equalised in the second half for Roma to put the tie out of reach for the Dutch champions.
The semi finals will be Manchester United vs Roma and Arsenal vs Villarreal.
