Vinicius Jr Wins Champions League Player and Goal of The Week
Real Madrid Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior has been named the UEFA Champions League player of the week for the first legs of the quarter final games.
Vinicius won the award edging out Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Chelsea’s Jorginho and PSG’s Kylian Mbappe who won the round of 16 second leg player of the week.
He scored two goals in Madrid’s 3-1 win over English champions Liverpool. The first, opening goalfrom a long ball from Toni Kroos which he chested down and slot past compatriot Alisson, the goal was voted the goal of the week.
Marco Asensio put Madrid two up before the end of the first hlf before Mohamed Salah pulled one back and Vinicius again capped his brilliant performance which he was a terror to Trent Alexander-Arnold up with his second of the day.
Madrid will travel to Anfield next week to face Liverpool where should they progress will face the winner of the Chelsea vs Porto tie.
