Coach Who Allegedly Called Tanzanian Football Fans Dogs And Monkeys Hired By South Africa Club Chippa United
Belgian coach Luc Eymael has been appointed technical advisor of South African club Chippa United after the club parted ways with Dan Malesela.
“The club has also appointed well-travelled Belgian, Luc Eymael, in a Technical Advisor role where he will play an integral mentorship role for the technical team,” the club statement reads.
“It is the club’s intent to have Mr Eymael forming part of the technical team. This is subject to consultations with our partners, sponsors and supporters. We have also sought necessary clearances from the SA Football Association on his appointment.”
In July 2020 Luc Eymael allegedly racially abused Tanzanian club Yanga fans as being like monkeys and dogs and was fired for the comments.
Chippa United had earlier tried to appoint him in December 2020 but the appointment was unable to after the South African Football Association (SAFA) blocked his work permit application.
The 61 year old Belgian took the case to FIFA. A move which made SAFA clear him as they are unable to prevent entry and exit into the country and only acted based on the gravity of his allegations.
Eymael is a well travelled manager who has managed across clubs in African countries such as DR Congo, Gabon, Algeria, Kenya, Tunisia, Sudan, Egypt, Tanzania and South Africa.
