RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann has dismissed reports he is wanted by Barcelona tagging it as a normal story that happens in the media.

Nagelsmann, 33, is reported to be wanted by Barcelona new president Joan Laporta as a replacement for Ronald Koeman who only just took over at the beginning of the current season.

Though he admitted to being in contact Barcelona assistant manager but on personal levels as he was Nagelsmann’s assistant when both worked together at Hoffenheim.

“I keep in touch with Alfred [Schreuder – current Barcelona assistant coach], but not only since it has been made public,” he told reporters, as cited by LiveScores.

“It is simply because he was my assistant manager [at Hoffenheim], and we have a great relationship. We message each other every now and then but mainly talk about personal topics and not about any other things.

“I don’t think the players are interested in all this, so they don’t ask about it. I think it’s normal in football that such things are being written from time to time.”

Nagelsmann is a disciple of highly reverred German tactician Ralf Rangnick and is regarded as one of the brightest young managers in Europe. He has been linked to several jobs in Europe including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Tottenham and German national team.
