Manchester United chairman Ed Woodward has praised manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær for the progress the club has made under the Norwegian which he describes as clear.

Solskjær was appointed United’s caretaker manager to replace the sacked Jose Mourinho in December 2018 and the deal was made permanent months later. He’s in his second full season and is yet to win a silverware, losing four semifinals but Woodward believes the club is making progress under him.

“The progress made by Ole and the players this season is clear,” Woodward said while announcing the club’s latest financial results which was hard hit by the coronavirus.

“While we are pleased about this season’s on-pitch progress and the strength of our current squad, we are equally bullish on our long-term prospects.”

United have fallen 14 points behind Manchester City in the title race and face their city rivals next in a Manchester derby at the Etihads.
