United fans love Solskjær, he’s done an incredible job – Beckham
Inter Miami owner and former Manchester United footballer David Beckham has lauded former teammate and Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær for the incredible job he has done at the club.
Solskjær has been in charge of Manchester United since December 2018, first on interim basis and made permanent in March 2019 but is yet to win a trophy, losing out in four semifinals and recently from the quarter final of the FA Cup, and that has led to widespread criticism.
“I’ve seen some of the criticism,” Beckham told ESPN. “But I suppose when you are a manager of Man United when they’ve had success over the years that they’ve had, there was always going to be a point where people get criticised, whether it’s the players, whether it’s the owners, whether it’s the manager.”
Ole has been into coaching since taking over the Manchester United reserves in 2008 and has managed at Molde and Cardiff and Beckham believes his experience would help him withstand criticisms.
“Ole’s been in the game long enough to be able to take any kind of criticism. He’s very quiet, he gets on with his job, and I think he’s done an incredible job down at United.” he said.
United are second in the league this season and on course to record back-to-back top three finishes for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
“The results are starting to show that. Hopefully it continues because the fans love Ole, we all love Ole and we all want him to do well. So when the criticism comes, he’s one person that can take it.” he added.
Beckham and Solskjaer enjoyed seven successful years together at United between 1996 and 2003, winning five Premier League titles, the Champions League and an FA Cup.
