Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio was stretchered off the field at the Molineux with a head injury after colliding with captain Conor Coady in the 1-0 loss to Liverpool on Monday night.

Patricio collided with Coady in the 90th minute and after a lengthy treatment was taken off as a concussion substitute and replaced with John Ruddy. He was immediately taken to the hospital and Nuno Espirito Santo has delivered a positive update on the Portuguese international.

“We just had an update now and he’s OK. He’s totally conscious and he remembers what happened. He’s aware, so it should be OK,” he said.

“We have spoken already. All these situations when it’s a concussion and the head, all of us are worried. But he is OK, he’s going to recover.

“We’ve spoken to the doctor and he told me he’s going to be OK. I think he was immediately assisted well by the doctors. Of course, we need to take the right precautions, because it’s a concussion to the head, so it’s something we have to be aware of, but the first signs are OK.”

Patricio is the second Wolves player to suffer head injury on the field after Mexican striker suffered a fractured skull against Arsenal in November and is yet to return to action since then.

Wolves lost the game to struggling champions Liverpool thanks to a last minute first half goal from former Wolves striker Diogo Jota.
