UCL Roundup: City and Madrid ease past Gladbach and Atalanta into the quarter finals
Manchester City repeated their first leg scoreline with Borussia Monchengladbach, beating the German side 2-0 in Budapest, thanks to goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gündogan.
De Bruyne put City ahead in the 13th minute before Gündogan added a second five minutes later and it was enough for a 4-0 aggregate win and send the Citizens to the quarter finals.
Real Madrid took two steps ahead of their first leg 1-0 scoreline over Italian opponents, Atalanta, beating them 3-1 to ease their passage into the next round of the Champions League.
Karim Benzema opened the scoring in the 34th minute and returning captain Sergio Ramos added the second from the penalty spot on the stroke of the hour mark. Luis Muriel pulled one back for Atalanta and Marco Asensio added another to give the 13 times champion a 4-1 aggregate victory.
The last games of the round of 16 takes place tomorrow. Chelsea who hold a one away goal advantage host Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge while Bayern Munich welcome Lazio who they beat 4-1 in the first leg to the Allianz Arena.
