Kamaru Usman gets his wish, to fight Jorge ‘street Jesus’ Masvidal at UFC261
UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman will finally get his hands on Jorge Masvidal once again after UFC president Dana White announced that the two will headline UFC261 on April 24 at Jacksonville, Florida in front of 15,000 UFC fans.
Usman called out Masvidal after beating Burns in February at UFC258; “We got this little street thug calling himself Jesus, he thinks he is Jesus. We tried to make that fight several times but he keeps backing out,” he said.
The two met at UFC251 at Fight Island where Usman won by unanimous decision. Usman was originally scheduled to face Burns who was withdrawn six days to the fight after his coach tested positive for coronavirus.
“The only reason this man took the [first] fight is because it was on six days’ notice and he had a built-in excuse,” Usman said. “And he’s still running his mouth talking about ‘he broke my nose, he stepped in on six days, give him three weeks and he’s gonna do something.’
“I’ll give you a whole training camp. I guarantee you won’t sign on that dotted line because this time Imma finish your ass.”
“Anyone of these fools can get it; any one of them. But he keeps running his mouth. If he’s gonna talk, step in there and you gotta see me.” Usman added.
The Nigerian Nightmare, Usman, 33, has a 18-1-0 MMA record while the 36year old Gamebred is 35-14-0 at MMA with his last loss coming against Usman at UFC251.
