The journey is not finished, says emotional Steven Gerrard
Rangers were confirmed Champions of the Scottish Premiership yesterday afternoon after rival Celtic United were held to a goalless draw and Steven Gerrard isn’t resting on his laurels as the journey isn’t finished.
The former Liverpool and Three Lions midfielder led Rangers to their 55th title, a world record and their first since 2011 and with their season technically over, he shifts focus to the Europa League.
“I’m on a real, emotional high,” he describes his feeling to the club website. “It has been a journey that is not finished, there is more to come and the next thing for me, when you win, it is always about what is next.
“This has been a team effort and a collective effort — it is a monumental achievement and I am just so proud to be the manager of that.
“We are in March and I need them to keep delivering until the end of the season,” he said.
Rangers are drawn against a Czech Republic opponent, Slavia Praha in the Europa League round of 16. The first leg is this Thursday away in Czech and the second leg next week Thursday in Ibrox.
