Goretzka single out Raphael Guerreiro for praise in Dortmund team
Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has singled out Borussia Dortmund’s Portuguese fullback Raphael Guerreiro for praise ahead of Der Klassiker this weekend.
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will slug it out in the Bundesliga’s biggest game of the season at the Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich won the reverse fixture 3-2 at the Signal Iduna Park in November.
Dortmund’s attack is led by two exciting youngsters in Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho, Goretzka recognises them as standout players but said Bayern doesn’t approach a game focusing on a single player but singled out Raphael Guerreiro for praise.
“We don’t only focus on individual players but of course,” Goretzka told Bundesliga. “Players like Haaland and Sancho stand out. Sancho was looking really good before Corona and Haaland, it’s so impressive what you see from him. This sheer will to score, I really like this, this ambition is so impressive.”
“Raphael Guerreiro, for example, is also a player who I also really rate, he’s having an excellent season, always looks to drive forward, to create goals. To only focus on individual players is too simplistic.” he added about the Portuguese who is capable of playing left back and left wing.
This season’s Der Klassiker is the first time in many years it would not be a title contender’s match between the two. RB Leipzig are Bayern’s closest competition this season.
