Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake has said he would rather choose to sit out the delayed 2020 Olympics in Tokyo Japan than to take the coronavirus vaccine.

The coronavirus pandemic delayed the Olympics from last year. Countries across the world are making moves to get all their citizens vaccinated with different brands but it is not mandated.

“My mind still stays strong, I don’t want any vaccine, I’d rather miss the Olympics than take the vaccine, I am not taking it. I don’t really want to get into it now, but I have my reasons.” Blake told Jamaica Gleaner newspaper.

The International Olympic Committee is not mandating taking a jab as a requirement to take part in the Olympics but only “encouraged” athletes to take one if available.

Blake, 31, won silver medals in 100 and 200m at the London Olympics in 2012, he was bettered by compatriot Usain Bolt.
