Bayern Munich and Chelsea were winners tonight in the third day of the round of 16 matches of the UEFA Champions League. Both won away at Lazio and Atletico Madrid respectively.

Bayern Munich hit four past Lazio in Italy and hold all the advantage going into the second leg, goals from Robert Lewandowski, Jamal Musiala (who became Bayern’s youngest ever Champions League goal scorer at 17years and 353days) and Leroy Sane put the visitors ahead before the break. Lazio scored both goals of the second half on both ends, an own goal to make it 4-0 for Bayern Munich before getting a consolation goal through Joaquin Correa.

Chelsea dug deep to steal the win in Bucharest, they were unable to break Atletico Madrid despite enjoying a lion share of the possession and wasting a lot of chances. Olivier Giroud struck in the 71st minute, a sublime overhead kick that was subjected to lengthy VAR check which revealed the last touch was from Mario Hermoso and not Mason Mount.

Chelsea’s game was played in Bucharest, Romania due to coronavirus travel restriction between the UK and Spain. The second legs would be played on March 17. Chelsea will be without Mason Mount and Jorginho due to accumulated yellow cards.
