Casemiro believes Real Madrid can still win the La Liga title
Casemiro scores the decisive goal for Real Madrid in the 1-0 win against Real Valladolid, capitalising on league leaders Atletico Madrid’s slip up to reduce the gap to three points. Atletico lost 2-0 at home to Levante.
Real Madrid’s assistant coach while deputising for the isolating Zinedine Zidane in January said the La Liga title race was still open. Casemiro also believes the Galaticos can still win the title, their 35th come May.
“It’s not just because Atletico Madrid lost. We believe [we can win] the league. Ithink there are still 42 points left, that’s a lot of points. We know there’s a lot of league left. We know it’s difficult, but we believe in the league,” Casemiro said.
“We’ve had a lot of absentees with injuries and that’s complicated, but today’s win is down to the whole team, everyone’s hard work. Thibaut with his saves… They don’t surprise me, he’s a great keeper, but we should talk about everyone’s work.”
Real Madrid’s next game is the Champions League round of 16 match against Italian side Atalanta and would be without few first team stars including long absentee and captain Sergio Ramos and forward Karim Benzema.
