Guardiola teases sextuple winners’ match with Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich secured an historic victory over Tigres UANL at the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar to complete a clean sweep of all competitions they participated in in the last year.
They become the second team to do so after Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona in 2009, a team that had the trio of Messi, Xavi and Iniesta.
Guardiola who also managed Bayern Munich teased a sextuple winners match in a video message posted on Twitter last night shortly after Bayern’s victory.
“Big congratulations to all the Bayern family for this incredible success, to be the Club World Cup champions and especially to win six titles,” Guardiola said.
“We are so proud, I am so proud, a big congratulations for everyone, especially Hansi [Flick], the players and the backroom staff for this amazing thing.
“But I would like to say to Hansi that you are the second team to win the six titles in a row!
“Before you, there was another team, Barcelona… so maybe I can call Messi and company and we can play for the seventh title? Tell me when and where and we will be there!”
Hansi Flick took over at Bayern Munich in December after Niko Kovac was sacked and he turned the Bavarian’s season around. He has won more titles (6) than games lost (5) as Bayern manager.
Bayern Munich can’t repeat their clean sweep this season as they are already out of the DFB Pokal after losing to second tier Holstein Kiel.
