Guardiola and Gündogan win Premier League January awards

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and midfielder Ilkay Gündogan have picked the Premier League January manager and player of the year respectively. 

Manchester City won all nine matches they played in January including six in the Premier League and Gündogan scored five goals in the month to pick up the award for the first time in his Premier League career while Guardiola’s is the eight in his PL managerial career.

“What this team achieved in January – winning all our games, despite all the restrictions we face – is remarkable,” Guardiola told Man City’s official website.

“This just shows how focused my players and staff are. They are incredible, and I am so proud to work alongside them. Every single person involved deserves huge credit.”

Man City are through to the Carabao Cup final where they would face Tottenham, also to the quarter final of the FA Cup where they would face Everton.
